How to reply to a comment in Japanese

Short answer

Translation alone misses the tone. This comment agrees (“それな” ≈ “so true”), then teases you for laying it on thick (“盛りすぎ”), and the “笑” makes it playful. A good reply plays along in Japanese. SnapCue writes it and shows an English gloss so you know what you're sending.

You caught me? lol But I'm really proud of it.

Why these work

  • Replying in their language feels personal, not machine-made.
  • Playing along with the tease builds rapport.
  • The gloss means you never post something you can't read.

What to avoid

  • Replying in stiff textbook Japanese to a casual tease.
  • Taking “盛りすぎ” as a real criticism.
  • Pasting raw machine translation without checking the tone.

You might also see
